Like I stated before we where in Umeå this weekend at "Hous of metal" and just as we expected metal it was! Was kind of a strange booking for us being on a festival with mostly death metal bands and playing before Lamb of God...don`t get me wrong I for one sure doesn`t mind it but it can get a bit weird sometimes.
We had a great time though and thanks to all the people who came out.
Also a special thanks to lamb of god for being awesome dudes (and giving us their beers too hehe)
Sometimes I get mad. Not often and not without reason so please don`t take what you are about to read below too seriously because I`m not really as pissed as it may seem. I am just really, really tired of crappy journalists.
In particular people who are sent to review a live performance of a band. This is not only about us because I read this stuff alot but in our case it`s for example about what "shallow, commercial and utterly crappy" music we play.
I know I`ve been over this before but music journalist are possibly one of the most retarded kinds journalists out there! Of course not everyone but I guess it`s kind of like bosses: Alot of people who dream and strive to be the boss of other people are assholes but of course not all of them. Come on, don`t tell me that`s not true?
Anyways, back to Mr music journalist (insert name of failed local music journalist here):
Hey I mean I respect your opinion and all buddy and I can totally agree in some cases about the live performance bit but what I can`t understand is journalists crapping about the music we play because that`s not what you are there to review! Hahaha It´s actually not your job to decide because that would be a MUSIC review or even an ALBUM review. Do you see the difference here?
It´s a funny thing really becuase I thought that they would have gotten over that by now. A live review that describes how crappy our genre of music is really isn`t a live review so basicly you are not doing your job as a journalist. Period.
If you wanna bitch about how some music "destroys" the music scene as a whole and is "dumbening" peoples music taste because it doesn`t match your requirements for "good" och maybe "intelligent" music go ahead, I mean that seems to be a part of your job. Just let me throw someting out there for you:
Stick to doing your job. I know it`s a hard thing that everyone around you is sick about hearing about your bitching and opinions but dude try to be a pro.
I love critique and I have no problem with it, in fact we have gotten bad reviews from people I am friends with because they didn`t think our performance (the show etc.) was good and that particular time and place. No problem with that, I can sometimes even agree, we are not always where we wish to be.
However saying that our music is "dumbening" and an "insult to people who love heavy music" is not only insulting us and our fans but it`s mostly an insult to yourself actually. That`s not what you are there to do, tell those opinions on the internetforums and facebook groups with the rest of the 15 year old people who hate everything around them because they need to feel some kind of connection and a release for their frustration with the world.
It doesn`t belong in a proffessional journalist content at all.
If we are dumbening music, then I`m pretty sure you are dumbening journalism.
That`s the way I look at it anyways!
